A single column of deep red burns up through a near-black ground, its edges softening into ash and umber where the color loses heat. Built in heavy palette-knife passes that catch raking light across the dark. Reads as one contained event - ember, vein, or wound, depending on how close you stand.

Heavy palette-knife impasto; the red reads hotter in raking light and recedes to ember-glow at a distance.
