Deep purple worked over with gold, in one continuous arched pass.

Built with a palette knife pulled in a single wide arc, then reworked over several sessions until the surface cracked and caught the gold underneath. The purple reads almost black in low light and opens up completely under a lamp or afternoon sun - the piece changes more with light than most paintings this size have any right to.
Heavy impasto with visible knife ridges; gold undertones surface through a deliberately cracked top layer.
